How to export/import an excel file for Product List
Steps in exporting an inventory list in Dear for updating
1. Log in to your Dear File.
2. Go to Inventory > Products.
3. Under Inventory, tick on the Export.
4. Under the Export, there are lists to export depending on what do you want to update. In this case, go to Inventory List.
5. Tick the Inventory List and the csv file will be downloaded.
6. Once downloaded, you can search on the column header where you wish to update.
Reminder:
a. A csv file can only handle a 1000 product list in 1 import (column header is not included). If you have more than a thousand product list, it is better to split it to 1000 list per file.
b. Before importing back, always check that there are no scientific notation existing in the file, Product code, Phone number and Barcode are usually the columns that you can always find a scientific notation. If that will be the case, select that specific column and convert them to number and remove the decimal point.
Tips on how to remove a Scientific Notation in csv file format:
* When you export a csv file, it will automatically convert the numbers that have more than 10 to scientific notation. To change it back to its original form, we need to convert it to number.
* Select the specific column, example the Barcode.
* Select the Number on the Header of the excel.
* Remove the decimals by ticking Decrease Decimal.
7. If you are all okay now and you already updated the products that needs updating, you can now import it back. The steps are the same apart from instead of Export, tick on the Import.
8. Go to Step 3 and you can either drop the file by dragging it from the folder going to Dear or you can click to go to a file select the specific file and import.
